Doug Evans Hired to Launch ENVELOP Line of Military-Grade Gun Cases

Gun cases are the first consumer product from next-generation military
protective-cover technology

Doug Evans EAGAN, Minn. (October 24, 2007) - The high-tech protective covers developed for the U.S. Military will soon be available to protect firearms, as Shield Technologies Corporation has hired Austin & Halleck and Magnum Research veteran Doug Evans to develop Envelop protective covers for the consumer market.

As director of consumer markets for Envelop covers, Evans will adapt the military products for consumer goods, beginning with high-tech protective cases to today's shooters and hunters. The product line will be launched later this month and available exclusively online.

"These high-tech, next generation covers have proven to dramatically reduce corrosion and environmental weathering of military weapons -- by as much as 90 percent," said Tom Nelson, general manager of Shield Technologies. "And Doug's extensive background in the hunting and firearms industries makes him the perfect leader to adapt the technology for consumer markets."

Evans has worked for more than 20 years in senior management, sales and marketing of firearms. He comes to ENVELOP from Austin & Halleck Gun Crafters, where he was vice president of sales and marketing. At Austin & Halleck, Evans reconfigured the sales representative network, reintroduced the brand and established international vendor relationships.

Previously, Evans served as president and chief executive officer of Magnum Research Inc., a manufacturer, marketer and distributor of sporting firearms and ammunition, in Minneapolis, Minn. Evans began at Magnum as a sales manager, rising to vice president and general manager within six years. In 1996, Doug became the president and chief executive officer.

A hunting and outdoor sports enthusiast, Doug brings his passion for hunting and firearms to his development of high-quality, finely-crafted cases that protect and showcase the guns inside.

"I'm excited to bring a new, high-tech/mil-spec product to sportsmen that will protect their firearms from humidity and the other environmental changes that cause damage," said Evans. "I wouldn't put my guns in anything less."

About ENVELOP® Protective Covers
Envelop Protective Covers are the next generation of environmental and operational covers, replacing ineffective vinyl tarps and corrosion-inhibiting chemicals that contaminate the environment. Envelop covers were originally developed to protect military weapons and other assets from water, salt, humidity, sand and other sources of environmental degradation. Validated in the Navy's ocean-going environment, Envelop covers have proven to dramatically reduce maintenance time for military assets, and they are the only soft covers approved by the U.S. Navy for topside weapons and equipment. More than 14,000 Envelop covers are now used by the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, and allied navies. They are also available for consumer and industrial applications such as oil and gas machinery, commercial shipping, amusement parks, airplanes, gun cases and cruise ships. Shield Technologies Corporation is headquartered in Chicago, Ill., with operations in the Twin Cities suburb of Eagan, Minn.
