Envelop Protective Covers...

Frequently Asked Questions and Helpful Answers

 Q:

What makes Envelop® Protective Covers unique?

 A:

Envelop® Protective Covers are waterproof and breathable, properties which do not exist in any other textile covering material available on the market today. This patented product does not allow water in from the outside, but will absorb water and condensation present inside the covers and release it back out to the atmosphere through evaporation. Additionally, Vapor Corrosion Inhibitors (VCI) are a part of the covers, creating an ionic layer on the metal which prevent oxygen molecules from contacting the metal and causing oxidation. Compared to traditional vinyl cover, Envelop® Protective Covers reduce corrosion by as much as 90%.

 Q:

How long will Envelop® Protective Covers last?

 A:

Envelop® Protective Covers will last 18 - 24 months in a fully exposed maritime environment. This is 3 - 4 times the expected life of traditional vinyl covers. In an interior environment, Envelop® Protective Covers can remain effective for up to 5 years.

 Q:

How should I maintain Envelop® Protective Covers?

 A:

When the covers are not in use, it's important t store them in your workspace. New Envelop® Covers are being delivered with a black nylon mesh storage bag, which should be used to store the covers.

If the covers become soiled, clean the outer shell with soap and water. The interior of the covers should be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol. Water used on the inner surfaces will be absorbed and take time to evaporate.

 Q:

If Envelop® Protective Covers become waterlogged, how should they be dried?

 A:

Although counterintuitive, the best way to dry the covers is to leave them installed on the equipment. Any water present is being wicked away from the equipment and the covers will dry out. The rate of drying will be dependent on temperature, relative humidity and wind. Additionally, leaving the covers installed allows the VCI to continue protecting the metal surfaces of the equipment.
